Susanna Shin, MD is A vascular surgeon with a history of academic appointments. She has previously practiced in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington and Georgetown University Hospital. She completed her general surgery training at Eastern Virginia Medical School under the direction of Dr. LD Britt who sparked a research interest and surgical education. She then went on to complete her vascular surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Shin is board certified in vascular surgery. Her clinical interests include lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease and dialysis access. Her research interests overlap with her clinical interests with the addition of surgical education and she has numerous publications in clinical outcomes and surgical education research. As a surgical resident and as an attending, Dr. Shin has served on her Institutional Review Board, supporting her fellow physician-scientists. She has also always had a interest in surgical ethics and has participated as faculty in ethics seminars and currently serves on her hospital ethics committee.
