Dr. Dalsing is Professor Emeritus, Division of Vascular Surgery, at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He initiated the Independent Vascular Surgery Training Program (2000) and the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program (2008). He was the first Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at IU.
Dr. Dalsing received a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary’s College, Winona, Minnesota (1974), M.D. degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (1978) and surgical residency from the Indiana University School of Medicine (1983). Vascular Surgical training was completed at Northwestern University in 1984. He is board certified in Vascular Surgery, General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He completed an MBA program from IU Kelley School of Business in May of 2022.
Dr. Dalsing joined the Indiana University faculty as an Assistant Professor in 1984 and became Director of Vascular Surgery in 1987. He rose through the ranks to become full professor in 1994. He obtained AOA recognition in 1988. Dr. Dalsing has been president of the Indiana Chapter ACS, the Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, the American Venous Forum and the APDVS. He currently President of the Society for Vascular Surgery.
His scholarly efforts have included study of end-stage chronic venous disease, collateral vascular development, and many areas of clinical vascular surgery. He has contributed over 160 peer-reviewed articles, numerous commentaries/editorias and 50 book chapters to the surgical literature. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences on various topics pertinent to vascular surgery which number over 250.
